🪩 In their 10th year, Grow is embarking on a crowdfunding campaign to secure long-term sustainability and continue providing the vibrant cultural hub that our community has come to love and rely on. Their goal is to raise funds to invest in solar power and batteries, become a CIC, and other essential initiatives that will ensure Grow remains a thriving space for years to come. The Crowdfunder is only open this May so time is critical, if you are in a position to do so, you can donate here.

🌳 Arbeit Studios is pleased to announce the upcoming exhibition,You Can’t Make Trees, by the 2nd ReRooted Residency artists, Rachel and Ray Atfield until June 2, 2024, at Trowbridge Gardens Gallery. Rachel and Ray create art using locally foraged natural materials, blending traditional craft and architectural skills.

🖼️ Welcome to the Existing in Shadowland Contemporary Art Exhibition Opening at ArtSect Gallery! From May 10th to May 12th, this exhibition showcases artworks from multiple artists, spanning various mediums, aimed at delving deeply into the influence of media on individuals and society. We will use Lacan's theory as a lens to examine the phenomenon of mirror identification.We construct our self-identity through observing others, but this identity often rests on misinterpretation and illusion.

Queen Mary University of London invites you to the fourth networking lunch and workshop for social prescribing and the arts! This catered event, hosted by Drs. Maria Grazia Turri & Francesca Cornaglia (Queen Mary University of London), is for arts organisations, GPs, link workers, and other clinicians interested in meeting arts organisations working in socially engaged practice in East London. 12:30 pm - 4:00 pm, May 10th.

Carolina Lelis, Around The World with Nico

🎶 Around The World with Nico – in collaboration with Bacardi – celebrates the best in music from all corners of the globe, with a beautiful range of artists performing in Nico's at Hackney Bridge, followed by a DJ set with the line-up curated by Voices Radio. On Friday 10th May, one of the most sought-after Brazilian singers in the UK, Carolina Lelis, will perform at Nico's.

🕺 Main Characters Only presents to you: THE MOTIVE, bringing you an insane night with the hottest DJs in London all spinning under one roof at Colour Factory. If you're a Main Character, this one you don't want to miss. Saturday May 11th.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

🎓 University of the Arts London is offering a PhD studentships in Artisan, Agency, Place: Making Local Fashion. The research will sit between the London College of Fashion at UAL East and the collaborative partner organisation Creative Wick, the latter which has had a significant creative impact on the shape of London East’s Cultural Zone at The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, East London, and the former seeking to educate future generations of creatives. Check out the all studentships on offer and apply before May 20th 2024.

NEW OPENINGS

🎬 Each year, the American Cinema Editors Internship Committee selects two interns and provides them with the opportunity to shadow multiple departments for four weeks in their choice of LA, New York or London! Applications are now open and will close June 30th, good luck!

🏆 The Mick Bateman Memorial Award is a new award set up with specific intention to support and encourage emerging artists working in metal. Each award offers: Two years of financial support towards the whole cost of a professional artist studio at Bow Arts. The award is up to a maximum of £2,000 in any one year, and; up to £1,000 (equivalent to 8 days) access to courses and/or workshop time in the London Sculpture Workshop. Applications are welcome from all artists until 12:00pm, Monday 3rd June.

🤝 Loughborough University London are excited to invite you to their Collaborative Project Show 2024 on Tuesday 25 June 5-8pm at Plexal! This evening is an excellent opportunity to engage with our brilliant network of academics, partner organisations, students and alumni.
