From partying in your pants at Studio 9294, to connecting with your neighbours (fully clothed) at the Hackney Wick Town Hall, helping create an accessible compost toilet with Surge Cooperative, and an enriching workshop led by Abigail Yentis at Ælfred, the range is endless. Indra Gallery

🖼️ Get ready to dive into a world of unsettling connections and uneasy harmonies at Discomfort in Resonance, encapsulating both the depth of emotion and the lasting impact of anger within female and queer experience. Opening night 2 is Saturday June 1st, Indra Gallery.

🎂 Head over to Fabwick this Sunday, 2nd June from 4-8pm for Benja’s Birthday Jam. All musicians, poets and dancers welcome. Expect live music and a paint jam session by Maryam Sandjari Hashemi.

Surge Cooperative

🐛 Join Surge Cooperative on the continuation of their journey with Compost Mentis cooperative to create an accessible compost toilet for the Long Wall Ecology Garden. On the day there'll be plenty to do for all skill levels, digging, plotting, carpentry, processing materials and lots more. Saturday June 1st, 11-5pm

🎨 Ælfred are thrilled to present an enriching workshop led by the talented artist and educator, Abigail Yentis. Embark on a creative exploration of interior drawing as we delve into the captivating history of this art form. While receiving an introduction to the history and importance of interior drawings provided by the team at Ælfred, immerse yourself in the charm of Ælfred's showroom as you capture the essence of their stunning mid-century pieces and the captivating ambience of their interior space in a two-hour drawing workshop. Fuel your creativity with delightful coffees and sweet treats, curated to complement your artistic journey. All materials will be provided, ensuring a seamless experience for all participants. Saturday June 1st, 1-3pm.

Expect SEVEN hours of silly, arty, messy fun, banging tunes, friendly people - be topless or not, we don't care, only respect and pants are compulsory. There will be pants. There will be paint. 🏆 The Mick Bateman Memorial Award is a new award set up with specific intention to support and encourage emerging artists working in metal. Each award offers: Two years of financial support towards the whole cost of a professional artist studio at Bow Arts. The award is up to a maximum of £2,000 in any one year, and; up to £1,000 (equivalent to 8 days) access to courses and/or workshop time in the London Sculpture Workshop. Applications are welcome from all artists until 12:00pm, Monday 3rd June.

💵 Celebrating their home on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the Loughborough University London Open Fund is only available to organisations working in Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets or Waltham Forest. Up to £7,500 is available for community groups. You can apply for a maximum of £1000. Bidding for all three finds opens on Monday 13 May and can be accessed here.  The closing date for applications is Friday 7 June 2024, 5pm.

💃 Studio Wayne McGregor is looking for a brilliant and motivated Archivist, to manage and oversee our dynamic archive with over 30 years’ worth of materials. The right candidate will make a significant contribution to the Studio’s history and current activity, raising the profile of McGregor’s work as well as acquiring and disseminating materials to appropriate stakeholders internally and externally.
