Join the stunt truck mayhem in the London Stadium
This Saturday, July 13th, see the much anticipated return of Monster Jam to the London Stadium, and The Wick has three pairs of tickets to give away to fast-acting readers.
It’s a full-throttle family-friendly afternoon cheering on the massive stunt trucks and their world-class athlete drivers as they attempt backflips, donuts and catching seriously big air as they roar around at 70-miles-per-hour in dirt track races.
To enter the draw for tickets, simply refer a friend (or friends) to this newsletter using either the button or your unique referral code below.
As soon as they sign up, you’ll both be entered into the draw for a pair of tickets - so the more friends you invite, the more chances of winning 😉
We’ll pick the winners at random on Thursday lunchtime, so you’ll need to be quick… Good luck!

👩🏼🎨 Just a short bike-ride away, this Friday and Saturday (12th & 13th July) Leyton Rd open studios is a rare opportunity to connect with talented artists and experience their work up close as the 18 painters, framers, photographers and sculptors working at Bow Arts’ Leytonstone-based studios open their doors to showcase and sell their work direct.
🛋️ Sprawling throughout the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park multi-storey car park at Here East, The Giant London Flea Market is now officially the capital’s largest such indoor market, hosting over 100 of the finest peddlers of preloved bargains in vintage home decor, and just £2 to get in. MUSIC & NIGHTLIFE
🥳 There are still a few last minute tickets for the return of the epic Multi Multi this Saturday July 13th; the neighbourhood’s midsummer mini-festival from the Secretsundaze crew, taking over loads Hackney Wick’s venues day into night. Big news for the 2024 edition is that the event will see the waterfront garden at Hackney Bridge transformed into one of the many dancefloors, with a 1,500 capacity - the first time the impressive outdoor space has been used in this way. Expect things to be lively.
🎛️ It’s the second in the month-long series of São Paulo-meet-London hi-NRG baile club, Chi-town house and hammer-and-tongs techno parties from Colour Factory resident BADSISTA & Friends on Friday 12th July This week the friends are C.FRIM dropping genre-hopping, high-octane curveballs and LCY with the ominous techno.
NEW OPENINGS
💚 The crowdfunder for zero waste restaurant Silo’s forthcoming fermentation factory, to be built at The Loop on Wallis Road, smashed through it’s £10k target late last week. We’d like to think the reminder to pledge we ran in this newsletter may well have helped nudge it over the line, and if you haven’t got involved yet, there are still a few hours in which you can get involved in a trailblazing circular economy project, with decent rewards for all who do, too.
😃 A brand new daily happy hour has launched at Cafe Mai at Schwartz Wharf on the canalside. It runs from 5pm - 7pm and includes two-for-one on all cocktails and aperitivos, bottles of house red or white wine for just £20 or five bottles of beer for £20.
HEALTH & WELLBEING
Run Dusty - sets out from Howling Hops
🏃🏽♀️ Social running club Run Dusty have two things at the core of their mission: getting people mentally and physically fit via a weekly 5-8km group run, and then supporting a different local brewery each month with a well earned pint (or two) straight after. All this month their home is Queen’s Yard’s Howling Hops, where you can just rock up any Thursday at 7pm to join in, there’s a bag drop - and your first pint is free! Plus there’s a special Dusty Rat Race this Saturday 13th too.
WORKSHOPS
Masterclasses at Hearth Bakery
🍞 Discover the uses of rye in baking at a specialist 3-hour workshop with chef Masie at Hearth Bakery on Sunday July 21st. You’ll bake some delicious bread to take home, plus explore recipes for rye crackers and cakes, too, while learning more about the story behind the Bakery, too.
🥋 Practice Qi Gong and communal energy healing and cultivation this Sunday 14th July with ‘queer heretic’ bones tan jones. The session, which is open to all ages and experience levels, will explore gentle movement, poetry and written expression, at Bow Rd and Nunnery Gallery.
🌿 Local school teacher Sharon Owen is a strong believer in the benefits of spending more time in natural surroundings, so she’s set up We Are Nature, a offering donation-based ‘stay and play’ Forest School for under 5’s and their carers, as well as Forest Bathing sessions for grown-ups. You’ll find her in Wick Woods on Tuesdays and selected Saturdays all summer.
